Happy September, UU Ministry for Earth (UUMFE) Community!
This is the month we’ve been waiting for - the month that kicks off the UU Climate Justice Revival. UUMFE has been co-facilitating this project for over a year. It’s been my honor to work with all the planners; they are one of the best teams I’ve been part of during my entire career. And it’s a joy to work with many of you as you prepare to host your Revival. Below, you'll see the training and the “office hours” available to you.
September also brings the Fall Equinox when day and night are equal in length, just before the days become shorter than nights. This shift in season can inspire our work for climate justice, and you can learn more about how - at our Full Moon Gathering.
I always look forward to seeing you and hearing from you.
With care,
Rev. Kelly Dignan

A Curriculum for Spiritual Care for Climate Distress, Anxiety and Grief
The climate crisis has become an emotional and spiritual crisis. We can become immobilized with distress and unmotivated to act for climate justice. There is no quick fix, and yet research shows that gathering in community is a primary strategy for addressing this distress.
We developed this curriculum for exactly these reasons!
It helps participants: Name and honor our feelings together, prevent becoming paralyzed, and recommit to meaningful action. There are options for workshops and whole congregation worship. Check it out here.
From Our Partners
Join the UN Multigenerational Seminar 2024. September 21-22, 2024. NYC & Online We’re excited to announce the UN Multigenerational Seminar 2024, taking place on September 21-22. This event, available both online and in New York City, is a chance to engage in a global, faith-based dialogue about solidarity, advocacy, and activism under the theme: Reimagine Tomorrow: Global Solidarity Beyond Empire. Presented by UU College of Social Justice and UU Service Committee, the seminar honors the legacy of the UU@UN Intergenerational Spring Seminar. This seminar is an opportunity to learn about our relationship to advocacy, understand the UN as a tool for change, and deepen our faith for a global solidarity practice. Me2We2All - Self-organizing into Greater-Than: Secrets from Nature for organizing and movement building Hosted by UUSJ. Thursday, September 26 8pm ET| 7pm CT| 6pm MT| 5pm PT RSVP: Online via Zoom If you care about mobilizing for the 2024 election and movement building for a healthy democracy, join us for a thoughtful talk with Michael Lennon, Senior Fellow at George Washington University’s Center for Excellence in Public Leadership (CEPL), about what we can learn from Nature to inform our organizing and movement building for social justice. Michael has been weaving knowledge threads from living systems sciences, technology and economics, in a portfolio he calls Me2We2All. Learn about “sensing in common,” shared salience maps, and learning edges. Hear how activists can use “signaling” to prototype new dialects of shared significance. Explore how to establish cadence between local experimentation and collective harmonization for broader movement-level impact.
Our own Rev. Kelly Dignan will provide theological grounding and will be lighting the chalice for this event!
Calling on Faith Leaders!
GreenFaith has been putting pressure on Citibank to urge them to divest from oil, gas, and coal projects. They recently gathered over 800 signatories for their faith letter to Citibank and have shown up in protest at their HQ several times over the summer. Now, they are working on direct engagement with Citi and have two events in the works:
1) September 18 — A virtual meeting between Citi executives and a small group of faith institutional customers who are ready to engage with Citi in this way. (There may be an in person NYC prep session preceding Sept 18, but the meeting itself will be virtual.)
2) October 8 — A virtual roundtable for a larger group of faith leaders who want to learn more about how to engage with Citi around their investments.

Vegan Fried Green Tomatoes
Its that time of the year where the Fall chill is in the air but so many tomatoes are still green. This is a delicious way to use up all that unripe backyard produce. Play with the recipe and add whatever spices you like. Around here we like to add some garam masala or ground cumin.
