UUMFE’s 2018 Earth Day Sermon: “Earth Based Salvation”
Every year UUMFE solicits a featured Earth Day sermon on the topic of that year’s Earth Day resources. This year’s sermon is now available: “Earth Based Salvation: Juliana v. the United States” by Rev. Dr. Susan Ritchie, Minister at North UU Congregation, Lewis Center, Ohio, and Director of the UU House of Studies at the Methodist Theological School in Ohio. Read and/or download the sermon now!
Sign Up for the Climate Justice Month “Write Here! Write Now!” Campaign
UUMFE is partnering with UUs for Social Justice (UUSJ) for a “Write Here! Write Now!” letter writing campaign during Climate Justice Month (April 2018). Get ready: plan a letter-writing event in your congregation in late April, and sign up to get the campaign details in early April. UUSJ will hand deliver your letters to Congress on May 8. Get Ready for the Launch of CreateClimateJustice.net!
The forthcoming online platform for UUs and allies to organize and collaborate on climate and environmental justice action now has an official name: CreateClimateJustice.net! This community portal will launch on May 14. Join Aly Tharp and Rev. Karen Brammer for a webinar this Thursday, March 22, at 4:30pm Pacific / 7:30pm Eastern, for an update on the development of CreateClimateJustice.net and a sneak peek on how you’ll be able to use this exciting new tool. Two Environmental Justice Trainings this May
Take your environmental justice awareness and skills to the next level: attend one of two exciting trainings happening this May: the UU College of Social Justice is holding the second GROW Climate Justice training May 25-27 at the Starr King School for the Ministry in Berkeley, CA, and the Mountain is holding a 6-day retreat, “From Sustainability to Climate Justice” at its beautiful center in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, May 20-25.
