Dear friend, The time to act is upon us. Getting the attention of our governments and corporations is paramount to creating the changes that are needed. We also need to build strong communities. ACTIVATIONGlobal Climate StrikesOn September 20, three days before the UN Climate Summit in NYC, young people and adults will strike all across the US and the world to demand transformative action be taken to address the climate crisis. We know governments won’t deliver climate action and justice on their own, so we’re going on #climatestrike to show them what people power is capable of creating. We are crafting the solutions we need that align with the values and principles of our faith. We know we will need to transition away from industries and practices that compromise our dignity. We are inviting you to join us as we #SideWithLove & Climate Strike. EDUCATIONNurturing Discussions and Practices Nurture Nature, Yourself, and Your RelationshipsThe climate crisis shows us that we must come together in local communities. "Only in this way can we mourn, learn, and have sufficient focus and wisdom to build a new way." After visiting over a hundred UU congregations and working with them on multispecies ministry Rev. Dr. LoraKim Joyner and Gail Koelln developed a workbook to enable congregations and community organizations to create small groups called "Nurture Nature Communities." Topics in the workbook include "Awe and Wonder," "Nature Poetry," "Compassion and Empathy," "Freedom and Liberation," and more. CONNECTIONSUniversal Good: Social & Environmental JusticeSeptember 27th to 29th, Murray Grove Retreat and Renewal Center, Lanoka Harbor, New Jersey Rev. Eric Dobson will lead an old-fashioned revival under the tent. Sam Daley-Harris, our theme speaker, will give a talk on "Are Shouting and Silence Our Only Two Options?" Rev. Kim Wildszewski will preach in Potter's Chapel on Sunday morning. When we come together to work for justice, we each bring our unique perspectives, history of oppression, privilege, and cultural values. By working together, we lay a more holistic and equitable foundation from which to build solutions to the challenges we all face.
