UU Ministry for Earth

Dear friend,

Welcome to UUMFE's new e-newsletter! As the new congregational year approaches, we hope you find inspiration, activation, education, and connection in the vital work of faith-grounded environmental and climate justice.

INSPIRATION

Resources for the New Congregational Year

Get ready to infuse your entire congregational year with environmental justice: get inspired by UUMFE’s top recommended resources for religious education, worship, and action, as well as important dates to add to your congregational calendar.

ACTIVATION

Take Action to Stop Trump’s Wall

The Trump administration is targeting wildlife refuges on the U.S.-Mexico border as the first sites for his promised wall. Along with decimating the refuges, the plan would hurt the local economy, elevate flood risks, and disrupt migration patterns, all in the interest of anti-immigrant xenophobia.

Hundreds gathered and marched in Mission, TX, over the weekend.  The Save the Mission! Save the River! Resist the Wall! procession highlighted the community support for a church that has been active since 1899.

Take action: send a message to your legislators and donate to support the National Butterfly Center and other local property owners who are fighting back through legal action. Get more resources for action from the Sierra Club’s Borderlands Campaign.

EDUCATION

Climate Reality Leadership Corps Training

From October 17–19, the Climate Reality Project is holding a powerful training in Pittsburgh where participants will get the chance to work with former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, climate scientists, and communications experts and learn how to use social media, storytelling, and personal outreach to inspire action. Find out more and apply.

CONNECTION

Join the Environmental Justice Practitioners’ Network

Every third Thursday of the month, UU climate justice leaders from across the continent gather for a webinar to deepen their faith grounding and learn from guest speakers on wide-ranging, cutting-edge environmental justice topics.
